JEE (Main) is conducted by CBSE as a qualifying test for the JEE (Advanced) Examination cracking which will lead to a seat in the IITs. JEE (Main) also is the tool for selecting eligible students for admission in more than 35,000 seats for B. E./B. Tech & Approximately 1,100 seats for B. Arch/B. Planning in pioneer institutions of India including the NITs and IIITs alongwith some Government & Self-Funded ones.

It is a lesser known fact that any student who has a positive score in JEE Main is eligible to get admission in vacant seats of some or the other college managed by educational societies/trusts as most of such colleges have a fixed number of seats for JEE Main rank holders. The criteria of selection may vary from state to state and college to college. Career Counseling Board has autonomously endeavoured to make students know such possibilities by match making of the merit of the student and the requirement of the institution as all the Self-Financed Institutions participating in the counseling being conducted by the board have authorized the board to do so. The final admission still is subject to approval by the Affiliating/Recognizing body abiding the directives of the Government.

Many students do not know that they are eligible to get admission in B. E./B. Tech. on basis of their score thus they miss the opportunity of becoming an engineer. Efforts of Career Counseling Board are in the direction of offering a brighter future to aspiring engineers without charging any amount from them for counseling or registration.
